Program Snapshot

CMU students may choose to complete an internship abroad for CMU credit. The internship can be full-time or it can be part-time, in addition to coursework. CMU works with several organizations that are able to arrange international internships. All internships are for credit, and students will work closely with a study abroad advisor and a faculty advisor to ensure approval.

The Office of Study Abroad works with various CMU approved program providers that secure suitable internships for qualified CMU students. Please note that CMU only approves internships organized by our partner organizations.

Eligibility Requirements

  • 3.0 GPA

  • Excellent recommendations from faculty

  • Must have completed at least 3 semesters of university coursework.

  • Some sites may have additional requirements

Earning Credits

All internships must be approved for credit. Students work with a faculty advisor in the academic department to request approval for the internship and determine the number of credits to be earned.

How to Apply

Students who are interested in completing an international internship will apply through the Office of Study Abroad.  Students will complete the regular study abroad application process and will also be required to submit a current resume and cover letter. Additional information will be provided by your study abroad advisor.
